Der Junge mit dem Koffer by Mike Kenny
A co-production by Schnawwl and Ranga Shankara Theatre Bangalore, India. Aimed at school classes.
The production "Der Junge mit dem Koffer" gives an insight into themes like emigration, escape and inter-cultural relations, and allows young people an emotional access to these topics. The play tells the story of refugee kid Naz. Together with his parents he has to leave his civil war-stricken home. During the escape his parents decide to move on without him and Naz has to make his own way. His destination is London where his sister lives. He finds comfort and support in Sinbad’s Adventures as well as in Krysia, who he meets on his journey. Together they have to master many tough situations that ask for true courage and stamina.
Once in London, Naz discovers that life is tough in the city.
The play is suitable for pupils aged 14 and above. One third of the play will be in German and two thirds in English.
Teaching materials will be available free of charge in September.
